Did you, as a child, love to sit high in the trees in a tree house? Now there is almost the tree house 2.0: A new trend of the tree tents is slowly growing on us.
Tree tents – what’s that for a new trend? A tent made of wood? No of course not! The so-called tree tent is a tent that is suspended between three trees – based on the revival of the old tree house, but in tent form. An airy alternative, if you have had enough of the hard ground that a camping holiday has.
Tents – Practical and comfortable
The “tree house to go” is a combination of tent and hammock and is stretched between three trees with the aid of tension straps. The extraordinary tent is not only for the adventurous, but also perfect for all outdoor friends : Especially in uneven areas, it is often very difficult to find a place for a conventional tent.
You do not have this problem with the tree tent, because here you just float suspended in the air! So you not only have a cozy place to sleep , but are also protected from the nasty soil moisture. The tent floor is like a spacious hammock, just a little tighter, and thus offers a comfortable nights sleep. The necessary headroom is provided by a tent pole, which is pulled through a small fabric tunnel in the middle of the base of the tent. So offerening enough headroom you can even sit comfortably in the tree tent.
The manufacturer recommends not hanging the tent higher than 1.50 meters above the ground. But I have already seen the daredevils who have fastened their tree tents at a height of five meters. The only drawback: It’s only with a rope ladder you come so in your ” tree house to go “. There are two model sizes to choose from: While you can simply climb in through a manhole at the bottom of the tent, you can crawl on the smaller model comfortably through an opening on the side.
Child-friendly construction
The whole thing initially looks far more difficult to construct than it actually is. You just need to find three trees to attach the straps that hold the tree tent in the air. However, the trees should not stand behind each other like hanging a hammock , but are best in a triangle. The straps can be easily put under tension with the help of ratchets. On these straps, you then fasten the tree tent with snap hooks and the tent is already floating above the ground.
So that you can move better in the tree tents, you now push the movable tent pole through the provided fabric tunnel in the mosquito net and put the end of the pole in the provided tabs. In order to be protected from rain and wind, you simply pull the weather protection film over the mosquito net and fasten it with the specially provided rubber bands on the straps – and you’re done! The construction does not even take ten minutes.
A wonderful experience
But the best is yet to come: In good weather you can omit the protective cover and sleep in the open air. Enjoy the view of a beautiful starry sky and be enchanted by the fresh forest flair . The fitted mosquito net protects you from unpleasant mosquitoes and other creatures.
If you do not just want to sleep in the forest, but rather on the beach, the “tree house to go” can easily be stretched between a few convenient palm trees. Everything you need for this amazing sleep experience is just three stakes. The only catch: the tents are not cheap. You have to pay between 300 and 600 GBP – a not inconsiderable price, but also an extraordinary experience again and again. If you want to test such a tent, you can do so on different campsites throughout Europe and enjoy a night under a romantic starry sky.
